Medical Myth – Adult Congenital Heart Disease cures. Penn State Health 2

This is a very common misconception. Not
only amongst patients and families but among many physicians. Think of
congenital heart surgery as a palliative procedure, adults can often have
occurrences of complications that were there in childhood, new complications or
something entirely different. Hence, the importance of seeing your ACHD
specialist and your ACHD specialist can discuss with you how often you need
to be seen. Most commonly once a year but by no means is congenital heart disease
ever cured. .
